Council Tax
Council tax helps to pay for the services provided by Maidstone
Borough Council, Kent County Council and the Kent Police
Authority.
There may also be an additional charge if you live in one of the
41 Parish areas that form part of the Maidstone area, if the Parish
Council has decided that an additional amount is required to meet
additional expenditure by the Parish.
The council also receives money in the way of grants from
Government, from Business (or Non-Domestic) Rates and for charges
for a range of services offered by the Council. Income from these
sources is not enough to meet the total cost of providing services
and the difference is made up by the council tax charges paid by
local residents.
You can view the leaflets that give more information about
the income and expenditure of these authorities by selecting
